NSE is delighted to announce that Intel has extended their partnership for the fourth year running. The two organisations will build on three years of working together to further support the university esports community in the UK.

Intel has a track record of supporting grassroots esports communities and upholds its support for university students by continuing this valued partnership into the 2022/2023 academic year. Continuing as the headline partner for the British University Esports Championship, the official esports competition of British universities operated by NSE.

Intel will also continue its valuable work supporting student employability through Intel FutureGen presented by NSE and continue to deliver a wide range of popular community initiatives such as Intel Monthly MVP, Event in a Box, and the Intel Friday Drop.

Alex Coulson, Managing Director of NSE said:
“Adding value to the student experience is an essential tenet of NSE, whether that’s through esports, community, or our more educational initiatives. We couldn't be happier that Intel recognises the importance of aiding UK university students and has continued to show their support once again.

Over the past year, we’ve worked together on existing projects like the British University Esports Championship and the Intel FutureGen programme, but also introduced new student activities to recognise and reward individuals within the community, and will continue to do so throughout 2022/2023.”

The Intel FutureGen programme was first introduced in 2019. The scheme aims to nurture high-achieving student leaders and help develop their skills and enhance their future career prospects. So far, forty students have benefited from Intel FutureGen and continue to receive support from the programme. The 2022 programme saw the cohort double in size to 20 and those successful were paired up with industry buddies from the likes of Blast, Xbox, Faceit, Ubisoft, Unity and more. Intel FutureGen is set to return next year with applications opening in the winter.

Mark Walton, EMEA Graphics and Gaming Comms Manager said:
"Supporting grassroots talent and the student community is at the heart of our esports strategy, which is why we’re delighted to continue our partnership with NSE. Continuing with the Intel FutureGen programme, which has seen so much success already, and being the headline partner for the British University Esports Championship, we’re excited to see what university esports has in store for us this year."

New to Intel and NSE’s offering, the Intel Monthly MVP Award was launched in December, recognising and rewarding students who have provided power and performance to the university esports scene, mirroring Intel’s position within the community. Since the first MVP in January, 30 students have been nominated by their peers for amazing player performances, providing invaluable society support or just being an enthusiastic society member.

Also launched in 2022, the Event in a Box loaning scheme has been a big success amongst the community. The scheme sees Intel NUC Phantom Canyons loaned out to societies along with monitors, peripherals and accessories, allowing students to hold their own tournaments and LANs without having to source PCs themselves. So far eight societies have borrowed the equipment for their events and will be relaunched once the term starts again. Intel and NSE will also continue to support the community with fun activities throughout the year like Socks for Socs, which rewards societies with Intel x NSE merchandise, and the Intel Friday Drop, which runs throughout the championship and gives students the opportunity to win games and other prizes.
