NSE (National Student Esports) operates the British University Esports Championship powered by Intel, the official esports competition of British universities. In the 20/21 academic year the competition saw over 1,700 teams from 100 universities compete across a number of esports titles. NSE.GG has over 20,000 verified students registered on the platform, viewing a total of 2.1 million pages last year.
As the official body of university esports in the UK - through our partnership with British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) - NSE has established itself as a key figure in the UK esports industry with the most active grassroots gaming community in the country.
NSE works with major publishers including Nintendo, Riot Games, and Ubisoft and has long-term successful partnerships with Barclays, Intel, and Monster Energy.
NSE was formed in 2017 following a partnership between BUCS and Benchmark, a group company with a twenty-year track record of building companies powered by a common unifying entrepreneurial spirit that develops communities, builds talent, and shapes purpose-driven brands.
At NSE we put students at the heart of everything we do, helping them now and in their future careers. Through our student-first approach, we elevate their university esports experience and this in turn means we are best placed to add value to all other stakeholders; whether that be games publishers, brand partners, or academic institutions.
We speak to every single university esports or gaming society committee at least once a year - although in reality we speak to thousands of students on a daily basis - we discuss our British University Esports Championship plans, new initiatives, and available resources to help grow their respective societies.
Students also benefit through our brand partnerships, from career development programmes like Intel FutureGen through to our student game design competition, the Games Innovation Challenge with Barclays. In addition, students receive preferential access to a range of peripherals and kit through NSE relationships with endemic partners.
We also help academic institutions create attractive esport propositions that support the current student community and help attract future student admissions.
