The Southampton Video Games and Esports Society are proud to announce that SouthLANder is back for 2023!
SouthLANder is an annual varsity esports competition that invites Southern UK University teams to compete against each other in multiple esport titles. After being previously held on LAN in 2020 just before the first COVID lockdown, and subsequently, online in 2021, SouthLANder has finally returned after a year-long hiatus!
Each university invited will submit a team (for a grand total of 8 teams) to battle it out in CS:GO and League of Legends in an intense single elimination bracket, with the quarter-finals held on March 10th, and the semi-finals on March 17th. The finalists will then be invited to play on LAN at the University of Southampton campus on March 26th, and will receive a share of the £600 prize pool funded by NUEL and SVGE.
Each individual finalist will also receive a Monster Crate provided by Monster Energy.
Unlike previous years, the event will span a whole weekend, instead of a single day. The extra day will be used to host a dedicated LAN for members of the society, where they'll have the chance to go on-stage and play VALORANT, CS:GO, League of Legends, Rocket League and more! Nintendo Switches, an Xbox, a racing simulator and a VR console will also be set up for those who prefer a more casual scene.
We are incredibly grateful to be sponsored by NSE, NUEL, Monster Energy and Intel. Without their support this event would not be able to take place.
